Statewide Skylights, Plastics and Home Improvements (Statewide) was established in 1985 by Paul and July Edwards as a family owned business and is the only dedicated skylight manufacturer in Tasmania to participate in sales and installation whilst manufacturing and selling between 500 to 600 units per month on a National and International basis.

Statewide is highly committed to research and development in the design and manufacture of its products and uses the latest technology including Twin-Wall Polycarbonate glazing materials. The company was also one of the first to use the Mylar Based Flexible Light Shaft System. To illustrate its commitment to research and development Statewide has undertaken market research in a number of international markets. This research is designed to identify potential target markets and meet the needs of these markets.

Statewide has developed a full range of acol Roof Windows (TM) both opening and fixed. The acol Roof Window is the only opening skylight with a full range of glazing panels, from high impact acrylic to double glazed glass. This product is an ideal way to take advantage of sunlight and warmth, with the option of a fully controlled ventilation system.

Statewide can successfully claim a sustainable competitive advantage due to the number of benefits associated with its various products. For example, apart from the core business of manufacturing, selling and installing skylights, Statewide is involved in non-core businesses such as “Plastics”, which manufactures and sells polycarbonate roofing sheets like Acrylic and Lexan Thermoclear and “Home Improvements”, which is a major supplier, manufacturer and installer of carports, pergolas and door and pool covers.
